Okay. So she'd convinced her mom to let her use to Rec Hall kitchen instead of their home kitchen to bake some stuff for her Home Ec class. She grinned as she licked some cookie dough off of a spoon before sticking a pan into the oven. Her first cookie sheet of snickerdoodles. Yummy. Though she preferred soft old-fashioned chocolate chip cookies for herself. Taking off her apron, the girl's eyes took in everything form the icing containers setting out on the middle island-like counter to the bright red light on the stove.
Hayley glanced around the kitchen, pulling herself up onto the counter. She kicked her black converse-clad feet back and forth absent-mindedly, twisting a trendle of bleach blonde hair around her finger. She sighed and closed her eyes, getting a little bored. She really almost wiched that someone would pop up out of thin air. She grinned, tugging at her fitted black tank top - dusted with flower of course - as she thought of it. Wouldn't that be a startling situation? She inhaled, filling her lungs with the sweet smell of the baking cookies. Rubbing her hands against her 'skinny-jeans' she re-opened her eyes half-expecting for someone to really be there standing in front of her.

Standing in front of Hayley, now, as she'd imagined was Troy Hawthorne. "Hello," he said, cutting his eyes sideways at the door. "Uh, this kitchen's occupied?" he tried. No luck for him. This girl was obviously smarter than he was in this case and probably knew he was hiding his secret passion for baking from the ladies. With a sigh, he looked at her. She was in his Home Ec. class. "Okay, look, just don't tell anyone!" he begged her with his big eyes.
If Marnie or Marisol found out, he was screwed. He'd have to face ridicule his whole life from them. What's worse, if Derek CADWE:: found out! Ugh. He shuddered at the thought of it.

In response to Troy's calm 'hello' Hayley screamed. She had automatically drawn her knees into her chest and wrapped her arms around them. "My god! Don't sneak up on people like that!" She chastised before shakily lowering herself off the countertop. She looked him over and nodded, replying to his plea in a coolly settled voice. "I don't have any plans on telling anyone." She glanced over at the timer. Still had a bit of time before they needed taking out. She looked back at the boy standing in front of her. "Troy right?" She asked, holding out a friendly hand.

Troy laughed and shook her hand, "Yeah, we're in Home Ec together, Hayley" he emphasized her name. "And I didn't sneak up on you, I stood right in front of you!" he added. It was so likely of him. "What are you making for Home Ec?" he asked, looking her in the eye. Borat suddenly came to mind. He'd seen it with Marnie and Kirin. It was a hilarious movie.

"Ummm...Err...Cookies. Snickerdoodles. I like chocolate chip better, but I knew I'd end up eating them all if I baked some, so I decided to go with something I didn't like as much." Hayley replied, leaning against the counter. She grinned and looked from the oven and to Troy once again. "What are you gonna make?" Personally she hated these home projects the teacher had them do...even though she wasn't exactly doing it at home. But it would be so much easier for the students to use the school ovens. Plus it lead to better chances of the school being burnt down.

Troy opened one of the ovens and let the smell of Angel cake drift out before he slammed it shut, "A cake...." his cheeks went red. He opened the refrigerator and pulled out the red and green frosting, "For the holidays...I'm one of the guests of honor at the Cadwell house for their ChrisHanukkahmas dinner...I usually celebrate Christmas, Piper - the middle child - celebrates something or another. I won't say Kwanzaa because that's a steriotype, and Kirin celebrates Hanukkah, so it's a big dinner thing...." he had added all that extra information in to stall further questions.

Sniffing the air after he opened the oven door, she grinned and closed her eyes. "Mmmm....That smells sooo good..." She said this before he informed her on the holiday going on at his house. Haylaey nodded along as she listend to show she was indeed listening. That would be interesting to have all of those holidays to celebrate around Christmas-time. She celebrated Christmas, herself. She really wouldn't have it any other day. Then again, she was always open for change, so maybe trying something new woldn't hurt. Besides holidays. She didn't think she'd much like to change the holidays. "That's really cool. The whole three holday's thing. So do you like it? I mean....Is it really hectic or anything?"

"I love it," Troy said, jumping on the counter, baking spoon in hand, eating frosting out of the red can. "It's hectic, but I'd rather have a fuss than an empty house and nobody to share a roast duck with, wouldn't you?" he sighed, eyes sad as a puppy's, rememberering the days when his mother would go out with strange men while he sat in front of his icy TV dinner, crying, wishing his mommy was like all the others, then standing up and going off to Marnie's house in the snow.

Hayley's own Christmas was never very exciting. She helped with putting up the tree and decorating it. Then, on Christmas day there was a nicer breakfast with opening of presents. Then the day went on like any other normal day. Never any time spent together excpet the couple hours in the morning. As the girl watched Troy's face turn to puppy-dog sadness, she fet her own mood drop as her lips flickered into a slight frown. Now she felt like hugging the boy, and, of course, her being the loveable caring person she was, she hopped off of her place from the counter and wrapped her arms around him. She smiled up at him. "Don't be sad, Troy. Things'll be better."

Troy's eyes widened. It was like she knew what would happen every Christmas for him up until ninth grade. He hugged back, eyes looking a bit happier. He could trust this girl. He found girls easier to trust with his secrets. Though he'd just met Hayley, it seemed like he knew her.
"Every christmas, my mom would buy me a frozen dinner and go off somewhere. I made it in the microwave, then put on my boots and took it to Marnie's house with me," he hadn't bothered to explain Marnie because everyone knew her. She'd gone off with Atreyu Parker a few weeks back, "She and her family would be waiting for me. They knew I'd come, but they always seemed to let me walk that whole two miles by myself. I like the snow. I'm a winter loverboy. Don't ask why...I just like to watch the snow. The only presents I ever got were from Marnie. Mom forgot about my birthday a lot. She was on drugs way too long..."
Troy felt like that same miserable kid again, sitting on his bed after a long yelling contest with his mom, pouting. Nobody around him to hug. The house was dark and no light could be turned on for him. He was always too short to reach the light switches.

Smiling at the happier parts and frowning at the sadder parts, she listened attentively as she leaned against the counter, watching his own expressions. After he finished, Hayley offered up a sad smile, but a smile nonetheless. And even if it was sad, it seemed comforting, or caring. She was a person who cared, even if she just had met a person. It's just the way she'd been born. She was a fun-loving child growing up, and was still one now....Only with less child in the mix. She stepped forward, giving one more hug, then went back to leaning against the counter, arms crossed in front of herself. "I'm a snow person...not a winter person. I like the snow...love it, really. I just don't like the cold that comes along with it." She liked everything about winter except the cold, but she loved taking deep breathes of the cool crisp air and feeling refreshed. That feeling made her feel as though a whole new chapter of her life began. Even if it was every day. It made her happier. "Well...My family spends a couple hours together in the morning and then continues on like a normal day. I think it'd be awesome to have a real Christmas for once. But that prolly won't happen til I'm up and out of the house raising a family of my own." She rolls her eyes and sticks out her tongue at the thought of that. She had a while before she was out of school anyway, so things could change between now and then.

Troy sighed, "Everyone on Pearl Drive and Maple Street comes out to the Cadwells/Marcses conjoined backyard for a snowkissed Christmas dinner, is what they call it," he slid off the counter aas his cake beeped in the oven. Sliding on his baking gloves, he reached in and pulled it out onto a wooden pad. He took a whiff. "Mmmm," he said, fondly. Then he got to work attempting to fit it in the fridge.

Merely grinning, she walked over to her own beeping oven. Of course cookies took a lot less time to bake than cake. She grabbed a towel and opened the oven, slipping out the cookie sheet. Setting it on the stove top, she closed the oven door, then got a couple cookie racks. Setting them on the counter by the over, she grabbed a metal flipper as well, getting on work to moving the cookies onto the racks. "That would be one huge dinner-thing..." Hayley stated matter-of-factly before taking a sharp inhale. "Owwie....That hurt." She stuck her tongue out at the cookie sheet as she shook her finger, which she'd managed to burn on it. Sighing, she finished the cookies and walked over to the sink, turning on the cold water. She looked back at Troy as she ran it under the cool stream. "I'm normally not this klutzy...clumsy...However you wanna put it. Anyway. So now I know you like cooking and your best friend is pretty much more or less Marisol. How old are you, what grade are you in?... Inform me. I'm gonna be here a while and you're gonna be here a while...I'm pretty sure we both need some entertainment."
